Those who made them were questioned and even persecuted. I found this class of films fascinating, but I also knew there would be no way I could finish them without accountability. So I pitched this project. I would watch the most horrific movies I could find. Most of my criteria was based off the first movie on my list, Cannibal Holocaust (1980Kubrick’s 1971 film, A Clockwork Orange, would be withdrawn from release in response to accusations that the picture had inspired real life rape and murder.
