It took just about an hour to get through everything and get to our gate on a Sunday in February for a 12:30 flight. Thanks!As far as calling to SXM, Verizon charges .50 a minute from US. All incomming calls to SXM from US to a local rental cell phone are free to the receiver. Verizon only works on the Durtch side and runs around 1.29 a min. Last time we went to SXM, it was on United via Newark - cheaper than Air Canada, but required an overnight stay. The previous time it was on American Airlines - a two hop flight but cheaper than Air Canada. A quick search finds Toronto to SXM January 14 to Feb 8 for $576 return on American, two hops plus an overnight stay both directions.

We reserved online in advance and they met us at the airport with our name on a board and with the car, ready to go. For aprox $450 we rented a medium size car with full insurance and $0 deductible for the entire week in St. Maarten!
