If you want to roleplay their faction a bit more, just get more archers. All you need is 5-10 infantry with shields and have them stand in front of your line. Tactical companions win battles on their own easier. Scout companions would probably avoid danger easier. Trade companions would sell goods for more and buy for less making them financially better.
