Bowfa without crystal armour.
Owning crystal + masori is a bit strange for a main especially without even the bowfa, but if you were an iron you wouldn't suggest "getting rid" of masori. If Iron then I'd suggesting grinding until bowfa. If main then sell the masori and use it to buy bowfa, then save all the way up for tbow and after that pick up the masori again.
but yes, without armor bowfa still good, though crossbows can be better (ruby bolts) You can full recharge a crystal set in 4-5 hours of thieving and it'll last you months. I would bank it for now so you aren't burning charges and pull it back out when you are able to afford the bowfa. It's a marginal range accuracy bonus over blessed d'hide. Because just like corrupting bowfa, it'd be an absolute noob trap to corrupt the armour (on a main). Out of all the rechargeable items in the game, crystal armour is the least of your worries. we got the recolours which is what really matters. Add crystal crown to crystal helmet as cosmetic upgrade.
1. Posted April 19, 2022. I believe the crystal armor from gauntlet should be more easily traded amongst gim members. Reverting the armor back to the armor seeds loses all shards. This means that every time I want to give one of my teammates the armor that I got, I am losing hundreds of crystal shards each time.
The wiki doesn't show the crystal helm on recommended setups if there is a faceguard also in the setup, but I thought you needed full crystal for set bonus? Depending on the situation the blowpipe can be better than bowfa, even with rune or ammy darts. On bosses that you can proc ruby bolts the rcb is insanely good dps for how bad of a weapon it is. For everything in between a normal crystal bow with the armour set does a decent job. There are options if you look for them

It's similar or better than addy darts blowpipe on low def monsters, and bp wins with better darts. Bow is generally very strong against high def targets, but will lose to tbow if the target has very high magic. It's bis in a couple places like vespula and mystics, probably others too.

Bowfa and crystal armour is really good If you are lower level, it might be worth it just to get blowpipe first and get your stats up/maybe do some chambers in hopes of rigour/augury. I did my bowfa grind without rigour, but I had augury and used the staff mostly. There's not that much content that involves you ONLY using crystal armour, and of what there is, its minimal chip damage or the damage is avoidable. 1k for top, 750 for legs and 250 for helm. 2k total for entire set seems fair. You lose 2.5% dmg and 5% accuracy on top of -9 ranged attack bonus. I ran faveguard/bofa until my first purple. Now I got the helm :D. It’s pretty normal to run it without the helm at TOA. I recommend using the helmet just because of the boost in performance that the full set of crystal provides and how much it speeds up croc and wardens.
