When I started my Sorento, it wouldn't go out of park period. I figured out the temporary shift-lock over-ride that is infront of the shifter and to the left and made it home.parking brakes are stuck and won't release. OK, so this car is a 2003 Rio and it has been sitting outside for just over 1 week while a new clutch was being installed. Well we finished the clutch job, lowered the car for a test drive, released the parking brake and this car won't move - not a fraction of an inch.

447 Answers. I don't suggest you drive it this way, but if you just need to move it, go underneath to where the shifter linkage is and disconnect it from the trasmission.
