Nissan xterra camshaft position sensor bank 1.
Find the camshaft sensor. It's usually located on the side of the valve cover. It's mounted on the cylinder head, placed opposite to the timing rotor. (On some Nissan models, like the Rogue, you have to remove a black box to access the sensor. The box is easy to remove.) Unclip the connector from the sensor. Remove the sensor with the 10mm socket.

I have within the last month replaced the sensor with a new one and the connector for the sensor because the clip on the original one broke. So the X threw the P0340 code last night. Called the dealer, assuming bad camshaft bank 1 (passenger side) sensor, repair cost will be $220 (parts and labor) which seems reasonable. Problem is the first available appointment is 5/15 - yikes. Found a how to for the P0345 code sensor replacement (bank 2 - driver side) but nothing for camshaft ...You need to take of the front passenger wheel to change it and maybe need a special joint on your socket.
