Drop + AT Carbon VTA $299 on sale adds a step up stylus, a carbon fiber tonearm and VTA adjustment. Fluance RT82 $299 adds auto stop.. Pass on the older RT80 and RT81 that lack the new speed sensor. Pass on the RT83 since the cartridge is not any better. The Pro-Ject A-1 is pricey for what it is since it has the quality and performance of a sub $300 turntable and then you are paying $200 for the automatic features. For $100 more the Project Debut Carbon EVO is a much better turntable and includes a free stylus upgrade through September. Though yeah it is fully manual. The only time I’ve seen a decent new turntable sell for that is when Walmart puts the Crosley C6 on sale. Crosley C6 has been around $100, but that is the ONLY new table around $100 I'd even think of considering. You're better off cruising Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, etc. and looking for something used.Retro life isn't great, many better options out there. Be aware that you will need either an amp/receiver and passive speakers or powered/active speakers along with a turntable to play records. These are my minimum recommendations beginning with bare minimum. Assuming you have solid walls, a wall mounted shelf is the best.
