Over the last few months I have tested both of German Sport Gun’s (GSG) 22 rimfire semi-auto rifles. In essence they have made common barrelled actions with look-a-like, MP5 and AK47 bodies. Given the popularity of these hi-capacity, military-style guns over the last few years, GSG have certainly added some exciting kit to this area.

Review: GSG-5 .22LR. I recently had the opportunity to review the GSG-5 from German Sport Guns, because when I saw it, I just had to go out and buy one! The GSG-5 is chambered in .22LR, and looks mistakingly like an MP5. The version we are allowed to have in New York State is the GSG-5 L, which has a 414mm barrel length.
If the purpose is to practice shooting and getting better, 10/22 will come out cheaper in the long run. Like someone else mentioned, it will be pretty hard to come by a sub $500 mp5. 10/22 on the other hand, very common, which means you can find one for a relatively good price.
