The Island was the first map many players will have played on and is responsible for a great many of them falling in love with the game, an accolade not to be sniffed at.Starting out, I'd say Herbivore Island is a nice base location. But while some maps like Ragnarok have resources spread fairly widely, the Island map has resources more isolated to specific areas I find, so there's a lot to be said for having a base more centrally located, within flying distance of everywhere.4 Western Lake Cave - (-2961,2381) One of the most popular places to build a base, and for good reason. Only a few people ever stumble across this cave because it's underwater, giving you almost no reason to explore the area. The best defense is to not be noticed in the first place, only enemies specifically searching would come through the cave.

About 90% of the Lost Island map is custom spawners so until the DevKit updates idk how well any creature mods would work. Primal Fear sadly doesn't work particularly well with Lost Island, from experience. Only about half the things spawn, and the experience was kind of lacking as a whole.
