Int and faith are clearly better with dex owing to weapon buffs but pyro doesn't have that utility. It seems the scaling is all kinds of wack to reinforce pure builds, but pure pyromancy seems too demanding to be viable. I completed the game yesterday, optional bosses and all, as a pure pyromancer. No melee or shields used. It's definitely tough during the early stages, but it ends up being pretty powerful late game.

Decided to try this build for new game plus, got the katana and most of the pyro spells and gear in the game as well as rings. 3rd play through I'll try strength/faith build. Wondering where to place my 120 points I accumulated. I'm figuring Intelligence, Dex, Vigor with a few in strength and vitality and maybe extra in Endurance.

If you want to use dex weapons but want to be more viable for PvP, I'd suggest a dex variant of the dark build. 35 vig 35 end 30 faith 30 int 14 att and depending on your strength stat, 25-30+ dex and rest in vitality.
