The reason for that is you can get an omen bairn, not regal, and there's not a lot of difference. If you wanna see what either bairn can do. Use the ancient death rancor spell. Thats what it dies, except MUCH longer range - by more than double at least.
One alternative is, say, Ritual Sword/Shield with Bestial Vitality and/or the Crimson Dagger to keep you at 100% HP. But, I've done those, and they're fairly obvious. Morgott's Sword vs Reduvia/Misericorde+Buckler or a pair of Forked Hatchets does mean shedding more gear since it's a bit heavier, but it's still lightweight for a curved greatsword.
