It is a 1971 FJ55 I will be converting it to a Mercedes OM617 5cyl turbo diesel, Sm420, Stock landcruiser transfer case, Maybe an Orion later depending on money 5:13s, it will have some exo tubing rock guards and a top rack.Jul 29, 2014 · I am an old MB diesel fan and like the simple robust design of the OM617 turbo diesel engine. 30 mpg is pretty easy to achieve in the S class 4k lb sedan. Carrying less fuel also helps keep the Jeep light. If I could get 20+ mpg on huge tires (long term plan is 40s) I would be happy. ... To max out the stock set up you might want to hook up a Pressure Gauge to your Intake Manifold and see how much boost your Turbo is giving. I believe the max stock boost is 12 psi. After that is adjusting the ALDA. The ALDA limits the max available Fuel when there is no boost pressure from the Turbo. Rebuilding the Injectors may also help.
