3 Answers. @mheger with Vizio TVs it is usually the firmware which becomes corrupted. this is most likely due to a failed EEPROM chip on the main board. Since the TV displays the start up screen but doesn't move further it is a good indication that the firmware doesn't boot up properly. A main board replacement will resolve the problem.

The current firmware version is 2.35.1 and I can not get it to take any firmware updates. It just goes through the update process and then doesn't actually update.
